This bar chart compares the world population in four countries mainly India China’s USA and Japan between 1950 and 2000 this predictions for 2015.
In general it can be observed that the proportion of the total world population in India and China is marginally higher than in other countries throughout the years.
In the 1950s in the accounted for 15% of the world’s population after 12 years this proportion increases slightly to 17% according to predictions India’s percentage of the world’s total population is expected to increase significantly to 19% by 2050.
Similarly in 1950 China accounted for 23% of the world’s population which was the highest figure for this year however by 2003 this proportion decreases considerably to 20%, it’s predicted that China’s percentage of the world’s total population will continue to drop to around 15%.
In contrast the USA and Japan accounted for 7 and 4% of the world’s population respectively in 1950 by 2003 to USA’s percentage of the world’s population had decreases slightly to around 5%, while Japan’s figure dropped to three percent according to predictions Japan’s percentage is expected to drop further to 2% which will be the lowee figure in the future while the figure for USA is expected to remain relatively unchanged it by 2050.
