Two maps illustrate how Ryemouth village has changed over the past thirty years.
Overall, the area has shifted from a predominantly rural and fishing-based to a more modernized and recreational-oriented one. The key changes include the expansion of housing, the introduction of new amenities, and the complete elimination of all farming and fishing activities.
In 1995, the northeastern section was dominated by farmland and a forest park with trees. The northwest featured a residential area, and the dwelling zone consisted of two distinct zones, one belonging to the road and another enclosed by its road. There was a road from the northwest to the southeastern part of the village, separated into two areas. To the south of this area, a coastal road ran from the west to the east. A line of shops was located at the western end of the road in the part, and a hotel was located at the opposite end of the road. The southern side of the village used to feature a fish market and a cafe across the coastal road, positioned opposite the shops and hotel, respectively. In addition, the fishing port was placed in the sea
In the present, the residential areas have expanded with more houses, with a new road leading to west outside of the village. In the northeast, a farmland and a forest park have been converted into golf and tennis courts. Currently, restaurants have been opened to replace the shopping area at the western end of a road, and a hotel has been equipped with a new car park at the eastern end. Besides, there are new apartments with a seafront view instead of the fish markets in the past, and a fishing port in the sea has been completely removed.
