People all around the world enjoy celebrating the most significant events in their lives regardless of their nation, religion or even political beliefs. Since ancient times each folk differed from other by its own culture and, apropos of today’s topic, celebrations.
My motherland is Ukraine, the heart of Europe, so our way of celebration can be very similar to neighbouring countries. But what makes us unique is our brutal patriotism and strive for freedom, which has been tried to be suppressed by outsiders since the initiation of Ukraine. This way one of the greatest events for every citizen is the Independence Day, which symbolises the act of obtaining long-waited liberty.
Its celebration is usually followed by massive demonstrations with flags on the streets, wearing traditional clothes and honouring those who put their efforts into building an independent country.
What appeals to me is that this celebration raises awareness of our history among youth. Self consciousness and clarity in national questions is what plays a crucial role in becoming more progressed country and leads to developments in the long run, thus this celebration is the key to thriving nation and prosperity of Ukraine.
