The bar graph demonstrates the proportion of users eating five portions of fruits and vegetables every day in the UK between 2001 and 2008.
Overall, it is evident that the percentage of food consumption was highest among women, whereas a reverse pattern can be seen in the figure for children over the years shown.
In 2001, the highest proportion of fruit and vegetable consumption was among women, at around 23%. The figure for men was lower, at 18%. Food consumption among children, however, accounted for the lowest value, at only about 13%.
In the following years, for women, food consumption experienced a slight increase to over 28% in 2004, before surging to the highest level in 2006, at over 35%, after falling to 30% at the end. Similarly, there was a steady rise in the data for men over seven years, reaching about 26.5% in the last year, while the period from 2001 to 2008 saw significant growth in that of children to end at near 25%, approximately the same as for men.
