Overall, Rolex was by far the biggest seller of wristwatches in both years, In fact, their dominance grew in 2021. On the contrary, other Swiss watchmakers lost their market shares.
The three largest manufacturers of watches were Rolex, Omega, and Cartier, with 39.5%, 15.6%, and 14.5% of sales respectively in 2020. Meanwhile, sales of Rolex increased in 2021 whereas Omega and Cartier saw a decrease in their sales. In 2021, Omega witnessed a 2.9% decline in sales with 12.7% market shares; Whereas, Cartier only saw a 0.7% drop in sales but became the 2nd largest seller of watches with 13.8% market shares.
The remaining three competitors Patek, Longines, and AP had 10.3%, 10.1%, and 10% in sales respectively in 2020. Patek was in 4th place in 2020 but dropped to 6th position with 8.8% sales in 2021. AP was in 6th place in 2020 with Just 10% of sales but grew to become 4th largest seller of watches in 2021 with 9.1% sales.
