Band 9: Some people believe that technology has made man more social. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

In recent decades, technology has revolutionized the way people interact, and I fully agree that it has made human beings more social than ever before. With the rise of digital communication tools, people can now build and maintain relationships across geographical, cultural, and even linguistic boundaries.

Firstly, social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and X (formerly Twitter) have made it possible for people to connect instantly with others around the globe. Friends and family members who live far apart can share updates, photos, and messages in real time, helping to maintain close bonds despite physical distance. In the past, staying in touch with someone in another country required long letters or expensive phone calls, but technology has now made global communication seamless and affordable.

Secondly, technology has created opportunities for people to find and engage with communities that share their interests or experiences. For example, online forums, hobby groups, and virtual support communities have brought together people who might never meet in real life. This has especially benefited individuals who feel isolated in their local environment, such as those with rare medical conditions or niche interests. Through technology, they can connect with others, exchange ideas, and feel a sense of belonging.

Moreover, the rise of video conferencing tools like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet has strengthened social interaction in both personal and professional settings. Virtual gatherings, online classes, and remote work have allowed people to stay socially active even during global challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic. These platforms have not only preserved existing relationships but also helped form new ones in the digital space.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that technology has made people more social. It has expanded the ways in which we can communicate, offered new opportunities for connection, and reduced barriers that once limited human interaction. Far from isolating us, technology has brought the world closer together in meaningful ways.
