The chart compares the average time (in minutes) that commuters spent traveling to work between 2002 and 2004 in four major Australian cities: Sydney, Perth, Brisbane, and Adelaide.
Among the four cities, Sydney consistently ranks the highest throughout the entire period, with an average commuting time of 35 minutes in 2002 and increasing to 37.5 minutes in 2010. In 2008, it peaked at 39 minutes.
In contrast, Perth had a steady average commute of 26 minutes from 2002 to 2008, which then increased significantly to 34 minutes by 2010.
Brisbane showed a constant increase in average commuting time, rising from 27 minutes in 2002 to 36 minutes in 2008, and then decreasing slightly to 34 minutes in 2010.
Adelaide is the only city where the average commuting time remained constant at 24 minutes in both 2002 and 2010, with a slight increase in the years in between.
