The bar chart provides information on the changes in the proportion of population in the age of 65 and above in three various countries in the years 1980, 2000, and expectations for 2030. Overall, all three countries experienced a steady growth in elderly population levels, with Germany outnumbering Canada and the UK in all time periods.
In 1980, the share of Canada stood at 10%, this being the smallest figure in the chart. The percentage remarkably rose by 5 percentage points and is expected to reach a plateau of about 22% in 2030.
Starting at 15% in 1980, the percentage of the aged residents in Germany increased to 20% over the next 20 years. By 2030, however, this figure is forecasted to jump to a chart high of 25%, exceeding the other two countries.
The proportion of the UK’s senior individuals modestly rose from an initial 14% to over 15% by 2000. The figure for this nation is projected to a further increase to approximately 17% by 2030, far behind the remaining countries.
