The bar chart compares the average annual salary of doctors and other workers in seven different countries in 2004. The salaries are measured in thousand US dollars.
Overall, doctors earned significantly more than other workers in all countries. The most noticeable income gap can be seen in the United States, while the smallest difference is in the Czech Republic.
In terms of high earnings, doctors in the US had the highest average annual pay, reaching 120 thousand dollars, while other workers earned 43 thousand. Following this, doctors in Switzerland earned 65 thousand compared to 40 thousand for other professions. France also showed a high doctor salary of 80 thousand dollars, despite others earning only 25 thousand.
In contrast, countries like the Czech Republic and Finland displayed relatively lower salaries. In the Czech Republic, doctors earned 40 thousand dollars, whereas others earned 15. Similarly, in Finland, the figures were 55 and 20 respectively. Although doctors earned more everywhere, the wage gap was narrower in these countries. Until 2004, no country among the listed ones had a situation where other workers earned more than doctors. Despite the differences in income levels, the trend of higher doctor salaries remained consistent across all seven countries.
