The charts below shed light on the proportion of people who visited gym once a month or more from 1984 to 2003.
Overall, it is obvious that there was a downward trend in the percentage of the 46-65s who went into gymnasium, while the figure for people from three remaining age groups increased. In addition, people aged 26 to 45 had the highest figure in the first year, whereas the quantity of people between 18 and 25 years old topped the list at the end of the period.
The percentage of people falling into the 26 to 45 age group started at 30%, which roughly doubled that of the 18-25 age bracket. After that, the figure for both age groups increased to 35% each. Furthermore, the numbers of both the 26-45 and 18-25 age group underwent a significant growth to 55% and 65% respectively.
Regarding remaining categories, the figure for for people who were aged 45 to 65 underwent a minimal rise from 25% to 30% in 1989, and then there was a stable drop to 15% at the end of the period. Conversely, the people aged 65 or more witnessed a slight upward trend to 15% in 1994, before it oscillated throughout the rest of the period.
