Given is the bar chart providing population data of three different cities (Jakarta, São Paulo, and Shanghai) in the year 1990, along with both the projected and actual population figures for the year 2000.
Overall, it is readily apparent that the number of residents in Shanghai was predicted to experience a decline in 2000; however, the actual figures for three cities witnessed significant increases. Additionally, Sao Paulo was still the most populous city in both 2 years , while the opposite was true for Jakarta.
Regarding São Paulo, starting at 17 million in 1990, the number of residents was anticipated to increase to about 22 million ; however, the actual figure was 3 million higher than the predicted one. The city with the lowest population was Jakarta, with roughly 8 million in 1990, 2 times lower than the figure for Sao Paulo. In 2000, although the forecast showed that Jakarta’s population would be about 11 million, the population rose to 13 million, 2 million higher than supposed.
In terms of Shanghai, despite having about 13 million citizens in 1990, 5 million higher than the figure for Jakarta, its population was expected to drop to 11 million in 2000. In reality, the population was 4 million higher compared to the expectation.
