Comedy films attracted between 3.9 and 6.5 million people. India again had the largest audience (6.5 million), while New Zealand had the smallest (3.9 million). For horror, Ireland was the only country where this genre was highly popular, with 6.4 million viewers, while Japan had the lowest at just 2.2 million.
Looking at the totals, India accounted for the highest overall cinema attendance at 24.5 million, slightly higher than Ireland’s 23.3 million. New Zealand followed with 20.3 million, and Japan ranked last with only 17.8 million cinema viewers.
