The two maps illustrate the development of Ryemouth village from 1995 to the present day. It is clear that the village has experienced significant changes during this period, particularly in terms of recreational and residential infrastructure.
In 1995, housing was concentrated in a relatively small area in the northwest part of the village, characterized by a single row of buildings. However, today, housing has expanded slightly to incorporate more units. Notably, a parking lot has been added close to the hotel, which marks a significant change in the current layout. The road network has also seen some growth, with a new road now running directly in front of the housing area.
At the time of the earlier map in 1995, the fish market was located near the sea, directly across from a shop. In the present map, the fish market has been replaced by a block of apartments. The shop, previously situated near the coastline, has also been removed to make room for a new restaurant.
Furthermore, the town’s fishing port has been demolished, and the farmland in the upper right corner has been transformed into a golf course, now linked to the tennis area that was originally a forest park in 1995.
Overall, it is evident that Ryemouth has undergone numerous transformations over the years.
