Year in year out, a number of languages fade away and a group of people are of the view that, this is not a big deal. Since life will be much simpler if the world had fewer dialects. I agree to this statement. This essay will focus on how there will be increased international trade across the world and secondly promote effective communication among peoples if the world had fewer languages.
Firstly, as human as we are there is only one avenue we can let out our thoughts, that is by saying out our feelings and we need to understand each other by speaking a common mother tongue, either than that our friends won’t understand us fully. Same applies to our day to day activities in our various industries,and work places. The communication barrier will be broken and people can express themselves better when dialects are just a little and people understand those dialects.A few months back I met a Chinese resident in Ghana at the hospital who reported with high temperature and vomiting. Health workers needed to take history from their foreigner patient but were unable to as result of language barrier they couldn’t get his history. Patient didn’t understand any other tongue except Chinese. The only way out was sign language which might not promote effective understanding and information delivery.
Secondly, we often say the world is a global Village this is because we are connected to each other in various ways of life like food,culture,music and dance lately trade. International trade is a huge sphere for 21 century individuals. We ship all manner of things from clothes, machines, food and drugs and the list is endless. With fewer native tongue the trade industry will be more successful than it it as at now. A person must be able to know and understand a specific dialect before a business will be able to thrive successfully. There will be no need for translators at all in case of speech gab. There will be high productivity and international development since factories will be built all across the globe which will promote growth and stability in nations.For instance my uncle got a good opportunity to establish his native sandals making business in India as partnership with a reputable company years ago, Family was excited about the opportunity. He got to India, because he couldn’t speak Hindi, both he and his partners were struggling in terms of reasoning together, in a long round he had to come back home.
In conclusion, fewer languages around the globe will enhance better expression of one’s views and better understanding of people’s ideas and also promote better trade around the world.
