There is a widely spread opinion that today’s youth are better informed about such problems as poverty, ecology and animal rights and feel more anxious about it than their peers in the past. I completely agree with this point of view, because/// In this essay I will present and explain my position with strengthening examples.
First of all, I believe that the extent of previous generations’ awareness about the environment or social groups with lack of division was affected by the world atmosphere they lived in. Take for example the first half of the XX century, when industrialisation and economic development took the dominant and very significant place in strategies of most countries. Issues of animal welfare, ecology preservation and the life condition of separately taken dwellers were fully dwarfed by them.
But as soon as any national problem could become a threat to the whole global community, because of globalisation processes, countries’ authority and their population received more common knowledge and concerns about the most dangerous problems. For instance there were lots of international organisations founded to solve exact issues, such as Greenpeace, the UN and so on.
In addition, the population felt a necessity of taking part in making decisions about their country, which led to the development of civil society and decreased the role of the governments. It, in turn, forced the population to take on bigger responsibilities for their own well-being. Consequently people become better informed about the mentioned issues and care more.
In conclusion, by virtue of several factors, nowadays’ young community may consider to be more involved in serious World problems, like the environment preservation and protection, equal provision and animal standards, than youth of the previous generation, who were similarly concerned about the major issues of their time.
