The chart illustrates the data about students studying at an Australian university in the period of 2009.
Overall, the table shows six departments of the university, and each department shares three categories of data by which students were divided: the percentage of studying females students, the percentage of students which first language is not English and the percentage of students that were born abroad.
The Humanities department illustrates the highest proportion of female students, at 72 percent, while the Information Technology department and Engineering department show the smallest number of present women, with only 17 and 15 percent. Other departments like Education, Physics, and Science do not show a big difference and have slightly lower proportion of women in class in comparison with Humanities Department, – at 68, 56, and 52 percent respectively.
The highest number of students whose first language is not English present at Information Technology department with the proportion of 49% students in class. The Physics, Engineering, and Science Departments illustrate the slight decrease of students’ proportion, with 38, 42, and 45 percent of students in class. The lowest amount of non-native English speakers in class was demonstrated in Humanities and Education Departments, at 12 and 16 percent, in turn.
In regard of the category of students who was born outside the Austria the data show the following information: the equal percentage at 52 presents at Information Technology and Engineering department. The Engineering, and Science Departments share the data with 48 and 31 percentage of such students. Meanwhile, the lowest proportion at Humanities and Education Departments, at 23 and 20 units each.
