The given line graph demonstrates data about the overall population size, birth rate, and the death rate between 1700 and 2000 in England and Wales.
Overall, it is clear that the population size increased rapidly over the period, whereas the death rate declined slightly although birth figure increased a little over the period.
In 1700, there were not more than 3 million people in England and Wales; however, the figure increased slightly to 10 million by 1750, and remained unchanged for 50 years. After 1800, the population size experienced a significant growth, reaching almost 50 million by 2000.
On the other hand, the birth rate was higher than the death rate at the beginning of the period, at 30 per 1000 and almost 27 per 1000, respectively. Then, the rate rose not only for the birth figure but also for the death figure, reaching 40 per 1000 and almost 37 per 1000 by 1750, respectively. After that, both figures remained steady until 1800. Similarly, the birth rate and the death rate dropped slightly, reaching almost 21 per 1000 and 20 per 1000, respectively, in 1950. But both figures followed different trends for last 50 years. The birth figure went up dramatically from 21 per 1000 to almost 34 per 1000 between 1950 and 2000, while the death rate remained constant at 20 per 1000.
