In the contemporary world, there are several individuals who believe that the authorities should allocate their public budget for the elderly, who have retired, while others think that the elderly should prepare property before they retire instead of receive support from the government .From my perspective, I agree with the former to a certain extent and I will elaborate further in this essay.
On the one hand, it is reasonable for the government to take care of old people with support schemes. First of all, the old generation had contributed a vital part to the society of the nation by taxes when they were employees. So, the governments should give financial assistance for retired old workers, which allow them to pay for their living purposes such as accommodation and food. Furthermore, If the elderly are not provided an adequate subsidy fund from the government, they would have a significant ability to be a burden for their family members, who are working people, distracting them from the work. As a result, the productivity of them would decrease, followed by the economic decline.
On the other hand, there are certain reasons why the nation should not spend financial resources for the elderly persons. To be specific, many old individuals accumulated many possessions such as houses or vehicles when they were still working, which allowed them to afford to pay for their living expenses without the assistance from the country. So it is necessary for the government to consider carefully to prioritize disadvantaged background elderly. Moreover, instead of spending the public budgets on the old generation, the government should allocate it to construct more infrastructures like educational institutions, which can stimulate young employees to generate more innovative ideas in the future.
In conclusion, although allocating financial help for the elderly is proper with their contributions to the community and it also can relieve the burden on an old resident’s family, the money also can be wasted when provided for unsuitable people instead of being spent for establishing facilities.
