The given picture illustrates, the changes in sales of five different categories of fiction books between 2006 and 2010.
Overall, the sales of all five categories rose and felt significantly over the period, however , until 2008, the figures for romance, mystery and young adult fiction increased sharply, while at the same time the sales of classics and sci-fi/fantasy decreased noticeably.
It can be seen that the general trends in 2006 were dominated by two categories of fiction books, namely mystery and romance. The sales of romance books were around $80,000 in the first year, after which the figure rose sharply to approximately $100,000 in 2007. Mystery fiction showed an even more dramatic increase, climbing from about $60,000 in 2006 to nearly $120,000 in the following year, which was the highest point on the chart. However, after reaching this peak in 2007, the sales of mystery books fell significantly in 2008 and continued to decline throughout the rest of the period .
The other three categories had much lower sales. Young adult books grew from about $20,000 in 2006 to almost $40,000 in 2008. After a small fall in 2009, their sales went up again in 2010. Classics rose a little in 2007, but then fell to around $10,000 and stayed almost the same after that. Sci-fi and fantasy also increased slightly in 2007, but then dropped in the next two years and showed only a small rise at the end of the period.
