It is widely believed that the proportion of old people will be higher than young people in the future in many countries. I primarily believe that there are more negative aspects than a positive ones.
Undeniably, the older generation has a huge impact on the modern world. They are supporting communities, sharing wisdom and helping for social development. Because of their vast life experience, older people can help new generations to find their way, share knowledge and provide useful advice. Moreover, they have an impact on social development, since they are not afraid to speak out about their worries and ideas about the country’s development, and support groups and communities with the same motives as they have.
Such advantages notwithstanding, I believe that this trend is largely negative. A lower proportion of youngsters will affect key industries such as engineering and education, while fewer young people will apply for jobs. Science-based fields will struggle to find employees due to the lack of young and ambitious people. It is obvious that not all elderly people will work full-time jobs and will not face problems with new technologies and equipment. Furthermore, due to the retirement of older people, tax payments will increase for the young generation payment, which can cause large economic problems.
In conclusion, an increasing number of the old generation can be positive growth for countries. However, I generally believe that young people can bring a lot more impact to their country.
