The diagram illustrates the process involved in the production of electricity from coal.
Overall, the whole process consists of a series of stages, beginning with the raw coal being conveyed to a crusher and ending with the generation and transmission of electricity.
First, the stored coal is allowed to pass through a conveyor to reach the pulveriser, where it is ground to powder. Next, this crushed coal is burnt in a furnace to heat the water running through a water system. Burnt gases leave the furnace via the chimney, while steam from hot water is used to energise the turbine. After that, water is cooled again in a cooler before returning to the furnace, repeating the process. Once the turbine is powered, its energy is used to run the generator, which produces electricity. In the next stage, electric power is transferred to the transformer, which ultimately transmits this electricity to the power lines.
