One experience that comes to my mind happened late one evening at a train station when I helped a woman I'd never met before. I was on my way home after work, and it was one of those moments where everyone seemed tired. She was standing near the ticket machines, clearly distressed, and after a few minutes, I realized she was struggling to buy a ticket because her card kept getting declined. Without really thinking about it, I asked if she was okay and whether I could help. What I ended up doing was paying for her ticket myself and helping her speak to a member of staff to sort out the issue. It didn't take long, but it changed the tone of what could have been a very difficult situation for her. What struck me afterwards wasn't the act itself but how human the moment felt. Helping her made me feel grounded rather than heroic. It reminded me that in unfamiliar or stressful situations, people don't need grand gestures; they just need someone to step in calmly and treat them with dignity.
