Overall, it is evident that the most environmentally friendly country is Denmark, while Greece is the country with the worsk waste management. In Australia the biggest amounts of litter was recycled or composted compared to other countries.
Several countries showed a better waste management than the others. In Austria, for instance, around 60% of waste is recycled, whereas only 25% is landfilled. Austria is then followed by Belgium which lanfills only 25% of its waste. Then goes the Netherlands where around 92% is either recycled or incinerated. Denmark and Luxemburg incinerated the majority of their waste (58% and 56% respectively).
Other countries including Finland, Spain, Portugal, Italy, the UK, Ireland and Greece shows worse performance landfilling above 50% of the litter. Among them Finland amd Spain composted the highest amounts, 28% and 21% respectively. In contrast, Portugal, the UK, Greece and Ireland gave another life to only just above 10% of the total waste.
