People have different view on whether museum and art galleries should focus mainly on traditional culture works and limit the number of artworks from abroad. In my opinion, I totally agree because it can bring more positive effects to our culture and national’ s financial.
First and foremost, traditional artworks can inherit traditional culture. Artworks play an important role on passing concepts and history. Therefore, if the galleries showed more heritage art pieces, it can raise audiences’ awareness, inspiring them to understand deeper to their original culture. Encouraging them understand their ancients’ lifestyles and knowledge make them treasure and maintain their culture. For instance, Chinese’ art museums should display more porcelains, since it is the most popular in Tong dynasty. Viewer would like to find more information about the dynasty after visit them.
Furthermore, traditional art products exhibit in local museum can improve country’s economy. In order to deeply understand one country’s culture, many travelers prefer to visit local galleries to watch local culture artefacts, simultaneously enjoy the local vibe. As a results, with those traditional products showed in the museums, they can draw a lot of foreigners to the country and spend locally. As an example, National Palace Museum in Taipei, which including lot of traditional artworks interests many foreigner visitors every year and become one of a significant income source to the country.
To sum up, basic on above reasons I definitely agree that country’ museums should put more traditional local products. As these cause more positive effects to local people’s national identity and country’s gross.
