Overall, the English language is divided into two main categories, American and British. Furthermore, it is evident that the British English branch has more variants than the American branch of English.
In the first tier, while the American English is divided into the USA and Canadian branches, the British English is broadly divided into West Indies, British Isles, African, Indian- Pakistan, Australasian and Far East groups. Regarding the sub divisions of each category of American, the USA sector’s variants includes Philippines, American Samoa, Mid-west, North-east, southern and Puertorico, while Canadian sector is divided to just two categories-Angelophone Canada and Francophone Canada.
The second branch of the first tier – the British English’s five branches’ are further divided into many forms. The West Indian section is divided into two categories called Jamaican and Barbados, while the British Isles is grouped to Iris English and Welsh Scottish. Although Indian and Pakistani divisions are specified as forms of Indian English, African forms are divided into three types such as, West Africa, Angelophones and East Africa. Finally, Far East and Australasia are sub classed into Malay and Chinese, and Australia and New Zealand respectively.
