Band 6: The graph below gives information about the number of jobs in four sectors of the economy in the US between 1960 and 2020. (User-Written IELTS Writing Task 1 Sample)

The line chart illustrates the figure of ocupations in four economy sectors in the United States of America from 1960 to 2020.

Overall, it is visible that retail and healthcare businesses had rising trends throughout years. Unlike manufacturing and agriculture, which experienced a gradual fall.

Looking at increasing trends, it is obvious that both health service and retail went up substantially. Starting with approximately 2 millions in 1960s, the figures of healthcare climbed considerably, reaching 11 millions in 2000 and then, in 2020, it peaked with a bit more than 15 millions. Similiar to medical care, merchandising and trading, starting with the number of 6 millions rose dramatically, slightly levelling off from 2000 to 2020.

In contrast, the numbers of both agriculture and manufactoring decreased steadily. Having the highest figure of 15 million in 1960, mass producing experienced a dramatic rise, hitting a peak in 1980 with a number of 2000 thousand. Then it fell, reaching approximately 13 millions in the year 2020. Cultivation and farming, beginning with 6 millions in 1960, declined steadily to 2 millions in 2020.
