Overall, Spain and USA have increasing hours of teaching by schools. However, while teaching hours in USA rose progressively in Spain in increased only at upper secondary school. In contrast Iceland has more hours at lower secondary school than in upper. Japan’s proportion was stable.
Looking at the details, thwe lowest hours of teaching was 600 in all four countries. Teaching hours in Spain did not change in primary and lower secondary school, but sharply increased at upper secondary reaching its peak of about 1000 hours. In contrast, hours of teaching in USA, which started from over 850 hours experienced significant increase and almost reached 1100 hours at lower secondary schools. However, at upper secondary school they have minimum increase only reaching 1100 hours.
To continue with, Japan has the lowest hours of teaching among this four country with about 600 hours in all three categories. The last remaining country Iceland increased by 200 hours reaching its peak of 800 hours. However, at upper secondary schools hours of teaching slightly decreased, making Iceland only country with such pattern.
