The bar graph illustrates how car possession changed regarding zero to more than 2 cars in a 30-year period from 1971 to 2001.
Overall, in the first 10 years, most households did not own their private cars, but this figure saw a decline towards the end of period, whereas 1-car owners observed the opposite patterns. The data on people possessed 2 cars or more experienced an all-time low in the surveyed time.
As can be seen from the chart, reported no car rates were greatest in the first decade at nearly 50%, far exceeding others figures. Whereas, the number of owners with 2 cars or more observed a considerably low in all times, just half of the recorded data of no car. However, there was a remarkable change in both figures, as ‘no car’ plummeted to just 30% in 1991, and represented the same statiscal data as the figure of 2 cars or more ownership at 28% , which witnessed a noticeable increment in the next following years.
Turning to 1 car, starting at nearly 30% from 1971 to 1981, this figure increased significantly to nearly 50%, thereby surpassing no car to secure the most highest owners in 3 catagories, widening the gaps with other figures. The disparity among 3 catagories had changed over time to show the continual transformation in society to car industries.
