The bar chart provides information on the proportion of children from the 5-9, 9-11, and 12-16 age groups who were involved in four different activities in 2012. Overall, the highest percentage was cited in watching television among all age groups of children, while the reverse was true for art. Conversely, almost all did more reading than cycling, except for the 9-11 age category.
Looking first at noticeable figures, watching TV was the most popular among the four hobbies, with almost 100 percent of 12-16 year olds participating, followed by 9-11 and 5-8 year old children, respectively. Survey participants were least interested in art, with around 48 percent for those aged from 12 to 16, 55% for younger children, and exactly 60% for the youngest.
With regard to figures that exhibited similar results, biking was the second most popular activity among 12 to 16 year old children at 81-82 percent, followed by reading at around 70 percent. Similarly, the youngest children rode bikes more than they read, too. However, among 9-11 year old participants, reading was more popular at roughly 70 percent than biking at almost 60 percent.
