The maps illustrate the changes that took place in the town of Malvern in 1820, 1920, and 2020.
Overall, it is clear that the town underwent significant development over the period, with an increase in the number of houses, the construction of new facilities such as schools and shops, and changes to natural areas such as farmland and woodland.
In 1820, the northern area contained around 100 houses. By 1920, this number had increased to approximately 200. During the same period, farmland in the centre was reduced, and a bridge was built over the river. In addition, some woodland in the southern area was removed.
By 2020, the number of houses had risen significantly to around 500. Five shops were constructed near the river, while woodland in the east was cleared to make way for two large schools, which included several sports fields. A new road was also built to connect the schools with residential areas. Finally, a wetland for birds was created at the end of the river.
