The pie charts illustrate the proportions of boys and girls engaging in various cultural and leisure activities.
Overall, it is clear that computer games are by far the most popular activity among boys, whereas dancing attracts the highest percentage of girls. It is also noticeable that certain activities are gender-specific, with boys not participating in dancing, netball, or gymnastics, while girls do not engage in basketball, soccer, or skateboarding.
In terms of boys’ preferences, computer games dominate, accounting for just over one-third of all activities. Basketball is the second most popular choice at approximately 26%. Meanwhile, soccer and skateboarding make up 17% and 11% respectively. By contrast, listening to music represents a relatively small proportion at 10%, and reading is the least favored activity, at only 2%.
Turning to the girls’ chart, dancing is the leading activity, comprising 27% of participation. Reading follows at just over one-fifth, showing a significantly higher figure than that of boys. Computer games and netball account for similar proportions, at around 16% and 15% respectively. Finally, gymnastics and listening to music both represent smaller but comparable shares, each at approximately one-tenth.
