Overall, it is clear that computer games are the most popular activity in boys’ leisure time, while reading has the lowest participation rate. Another noticeable feature is that the highest proportion is recorded in dancing in girls’ leisure time, and there is a contrast in reading.
In terms of boys’ activities, we can observe that the boys spend a significant their time in computer games, just over a third. The proportion of spending on basketball is the second most popular activity, accounting for 26%, and soccer takes up 17%. Listening to music and skateboarding have a similar proportion, at 10% and 11% respectively, while reading makes up a very low percentage at 2%.
Turning to girls’ activities, spending on dancing is the most preferred activity, constituting 27%, followed by reading at 21% and computer games at 16%, which is half the percentage of boys who play computer games. Additionally, netball accounts for 15% and gymnastics comprises 11%, whereas listening to music is the least popular leisure activity at 10%.
