The line graph illustrates the cost in Euros of 800 grams of four different types of bread namely Wholegrain, Brown, White and Rye bread during the period of 5 years starting from 2001 in a European country.
Overall, the selling price of Brown, White and Rye bread witnessed upward trends while that of Wholegrain fluctuated during the period. Another striking feature is that while Wholegrain was the most expensive type of bread in 2001, Brown bread had the highest cost in 2005.
In 2001, Wholegrain bread was sold for 0.8, followed closely by the figure for Brown, White and Rye bread at 0.6. From 2001 to 2002, the selling cost of Wholegrain bread surged to 1.8 and 1.5, respectively, which was one and a half times higher than that of White bread. By contrast, there was a dip to 0.5 in the Rye bread’s price in 2002.
Between 2002 and 2005, it is noticeable that the cost of Wholegrain bread dropped steeply and hit its lowest point at 0.7 in 2004 before increasing slightly to 0.8. At the same period, White and Rye bread witnessed a gradual rise in their price to 1.3 and 0.7, respectively. Moreover, the figure for Brown fluctuated remarkably and reached a peak of 1.6 in 2003 and 2004, which was double than that of Wholegrain bread.
