The line graph illustrates the proportion of people who used five different categories of communication from 1998 to 2008.
Overall, what stands out from the line graph is that there were upward and downward trends. Landline service was by far the most popular, but it was surpassed by cellular phone service, becoming the highest over the given period. In addition, others saw small changes.
Looking at the details, the proportion of cellular phone service was approximately 8 at the start before rising dramatically to reach its peak of 60 by the end of the period. As regards the percentage of landline service, it was around 15 in 1998, followed by a slight drop to about 12 by 2008. Another interesting point is that the proportion of cellular phone service overtook the percentage of landline service in 2002.
Regarding the proportions of mobile broadband, internet service, and fixed broadband, they experienced growth over the period shown. The percentages of fixed broadband and mobile broadband started at the same point. They levelled off by 2004 before increasing to around 5 towards the end of the period. As for the proportion of internet service, it was about 5 at the beginning, followed by a gradual rise to 20, overtaking the percentage of landline service in 2008.
