The bar chart illustrates the percentage of young people in four countries – Portugal, Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands – choosing three different methods to address global warming in 2008: lifestyle changes, government regulations, and focusing on environmental issues. The category “none of these” is also shown.
Overall, lifestyle changes were the most popular choice among young people in all four countries, with Portugal having the highest percentage. By contrast, the “none of these” category accounted for the smallest proportion in every country. Government regulations and environmental issues were chosen relatively evenly across Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands.
In 2008, lifestyle changes were the most common choice in Portugal, with 50% of young people selecting this option. This was significantly higher than in the Netherlands, where only about 22% chose lifestyle changes. Spain and Italy recorded similar figures, at approximately 35% and 32%, respectively.
Government regulations and environmental issues were chosen by around 20-25% of young people in Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands. In Portugal, however, the percentage for these categories was much lower – approximately 10% for each. The “none of these” category was consistently the least selected option, with less than 5% in all four countries.
