At present, an increased number of animal and plant varieties face the threat of extinction worldwide. This decline in biodiversity can be mainly atttibuted to the climate changes and human activities that have been occuring over the years. However, it is urgerntly important to protect all plant and animal species as they are the key for a balanced ecosystem.
Firstly, the climate changes such as global warming significantly affect the growth and the existance of rare plant and animal species. When the environment gets warmer, the species which need a cold climate go beyond their climate adaptation ability, ending up with the loss of their existance. On the other hand, human activities also appear as a serious matter in this regard. Animal hunting has made a considerable threat to these species, which are at a higher risk of extinction. For instance, people hunt wild elephants due to the intention of having pearls that is believed to exist inside their tusks.
Secondly, the zoological and botnical species handle the balance of the ecosystem. The reason is that, food chains depend on plants and animals and even if the abundance of a single species declined, it will result in drops of food chains. Consequently, this will affect the food suply in the whole world that would lead to widespread hunger. For instance, the extinction of the specific categories of earthwarms, which affect the loss of soild fertility can directly influence the ecosystem.
To sum up, plant and animal extinction has become a serious problem in the present world. Mainly, anthropogenic activities such as animal hunting as well as climate changes, including global warming can be considered as causes of this matter. However, it is crucial to save all species in order to maintain the ecosystem stability.
