In today’s fast-paced societies, people tend to put more hours in work and reduce their free time instead. There are multiple pros like more financial security and career progression but on the other hand it can limit your free time and prevent you from maintaining a healthy work-life balance which I think far outweighs its advantages.
There are some advantages you can earn by working more. One of them can be getting higher income which can result in a more stable financial future. The other one could be achieving greater job security and faster progression in your career. Ultimately you can gain valuable work experience and improve your efficiency. For instance, being first employee arrived at work and staying until midnight can attract employer’s attention which can lead to higher income and receiving promotion in your career.
Disadvantages for this matter are much more important. Working excessive hours and being under constant pressure can lead to chronic stress and negatively affect your well-being. Over time, you may aslo experience sleep deprivation and become socially isolated, which can eventually reslut in burnout. Additionally, working long hours can leave you with little time to spend with your family and friends. For example, a guy who works day and night and does not have time to eat with his family is more likely to suffer burnout and tiredness in his life.
In conclusion, although working long hours can have financial benefits and faster career progression, it can put you under heavy pressure and stress. To maintain a healty work-life balance you may need to consider enough leisure time in your life and spend some time with your family.
