The table and pie chart illustrate the data about the finances of the police between 2017 and 2018 in an unnamed area of the UK. The table depicts the sources of money and the two charts demonstrate how the money was allocated.
Overall, more than a half of the budget was collected from the government and the most of this money was spent on the salaries. In addition, the total budget of the police increased as well as the money spent on technologies.
The funding from the government increased slightly; from 175.5 to 177.8 millions, while taxes from the local public have risen from 91.2 to 102.3 millions. In 2017, total budget was at 304,7 millions; one year later it changed to 318.6 millions, mainly due to increased local taxes.
In 2017, three quarters of the budget was allocated to police staff, while only 8 percent of the finances were given to the technologies sector. One year later wages were reduced to 69% due to increased focus and funding to the electronics and innovations area. In addition, building and transport sectors’ funding remained constant; both in 2017 and 2018 the proportion was at 17%.
