The chart above demonstrates the career paths taken by history graduates in the United Kingdom while showing their average incomes in the sectors these graduates were employed in six year period.
Overall, the majority of the graduates began their careers with a full-time job, whereas only a small percentage pursued a part-time postgraduate course. Moreover, history teachers were the most common among graduates, while archaeologists were the least common, with the lowest incomes, and historians as the highest incomes.
Looking in detail, more than half the graduates started their careers as full-time(56%) or part-time(15%), compared to the 12% of unemployed graduates. Among the post-graduation courses, 7% were enrolled in full-time and 4% in part-time programs.
Moreover, 30% of graduates were employed as a history teacher, earning $32,000, while 6% as archaeologists with the lowest proportion, earning $29,000. In addition, 9% as historians, with income of $49,000. Solicitors were not as common as others, yet the highest earners made up $57,000. Lastly, 37% of the graduates had other employment receiving about $30,000.
