It is believed that nowadays, people don’t have to teach their children new languages as computers can interpret it for them. I completely disagree with this stance and this essay will further explain my view point.
Learning a new language for youngsters is a way to help them enhance their skill set. It can help them produce problem solving abilities in them as well as develop their motor and cognitive functions. In China, for instance, schools are assisting youngsters to acquire a complex skill, like gardening, cleaning, crafting and so many more, which is significant in achieving their age appropriate milestones. Additionally, it can help them socialise and value non-native cultures. They need to understand the significance of their traditions and language is the first step to it.
Despite the fact that technological advancements have helped humankind in many ways, daily usage has made them more dependent. For example, the older generation used to have calculations on their fingertips, but due to the invention of calculators, individuals are unable to solve minor mathematical tasks. Moreover, these devices might stop working but the human mind will continue to function as long as it is alive. Unlike these devices, our brain will not heat up and start rebooting its data. It can remember millions of sets of data and retain it as long as we live.
In conclusion, the younger generation should be motivated to learn new languages to polish their talent and become independent. In addition, it can provide a chance to mingle and associate with foreigners.
