Every individual has their own unique personalities and some people argue that the way people dress up can reflect their personalities. In this essay, I will explain the reasons why, I disagree with the statement.
On the one hand, fashion style might be a personal statement. In other words, people often dress according to their taste, interest, and self expression, which can reflect some of their personality. For example, people who opt for bright or bold colors of clothing may suggest that they are confident. However, we cannot solely judge people’s characteristics just by looking at their clothing choices, since there are other factors contribute to their fashion styles.
On the other hand, many people usually dress up for function rather than personal expression. People often dress up for their own comfort and to match their occasions or the current weathers. For instance, during rainy periods, people will wear items such as coats, jackets, or sweaters, although it is not based on their taste. Furthermore, people can also dress according to the fashion trend. This is because most of them feel scared that they will be judge by others if they are not following the latest fashion style. As a result, their style will change according to the current fashion style, which are not reflecting their characteristics. Therefore, fashion style can not be a standard for judging people’s characteristics, as they are not reflect people’s true personality and traits.
In conclusion, I believe that people cannot know people’s personalities just from their style of dress . While it can be a place for self expression, clothing preference is usually based on functions and the latest trend, which does not reflect individuals’ characteristics.
