The table illustrates the average age when men and women retired in six countries in the year 2003.
Overall, it is clear that Korea had the latest age of retirement among men and women. However, French people of both genders retired at the youngest age.
As can be seen from the table, the retirement age comprised 68 years and 8 months for males and 67 years and 2 months for females. Korea was followed by Japan, United States and Australia where retirement ages ranged from approximately 64 to 67 years for men and from nearly 63 to 66 for women.
It is notable that France was the country with the youngest age of retired people. Women stopped working at 56 years and 2 months whereas men did the same at 57 years and 4 months.
By comparison, men and women in Italy retired roughly 14 months and 18 months earlier than in France.
