The statistics illustrated the number of women pursuing higher education in five different regions from 1970 to 2005.
Following the chart below that, in 2005, the number of women in higher education far exceeded that of 1970 in all five countries. Canada had the highest number of female university students in both years, while Japan had the lowest.
Examining the data, four countries namely the UK, the USA, Canada, and Germany has seen a huge increase in female university participation. These countries demonstrated significant growth, with Japan remaining an exception, as it only reached a percentage just above 40% by 2005. The United States ranked second, just below the UK and Canada, with over 50%. Among these nations, Germany have a slight increase to nearly 60%.
Among these countries,Canada leads all countries in female university enrollment, holding steady at around 60% for 35 years in a row.Although Japan’s rate doubled from approximately 20% in 1970 to 40% in 2005, it remains the country with the lowest percentage among all five.
