It happened a few years ago during a night bus journey from Dhaka to Silat where I was travelling to meet my parents. I lost my mobile phone, a regular phone with buttons, which was my first phone gifted to me by my parents on my 11th birthday. The phone held significant sentimental value as it was a special gift from my parents. I was extremely tired during the journey and fell asleep almost immediately after the bus started. When the bus stopped for 20 minutes break, I decided to get off and have some food. Due to my tiredness, I forgot to take my phone with me and left it on the table. But I realised the phone was missing only after I arrived in Silat. I immediately tried to call the phone but it was switched off and I couldn’t reach it. Then I registered a complaint with the police hoping they might find it, unfortunately, despite my efforts. The phone was never recovered. I felt deeply sad and disappointed. The experience was frustrating especially since I had been careful with the phone. This incident taught me to be much more careful with my belongings in the future. I have since become more mindful to prevent losing important items, thus the sentimental value of the phone.
