The given bar chart presents information about a family’s monthly basic needs expenditure in year 2010.

A glance at the graph reveals that all three items including food, gas and clothing undergo rapid changes from the month of January to April. However, clothing and gas expenses shows a noticeable upward trend compared to food expenditure.

To begin, gas and clothing expenses showed a similar trend in the last 2 months, with both gradually increasing from March to April amounting from 600 to 650 dollars respectively. However, on the month of February, expenses on clothing remained significantly higher than other items at about 580 dollars while gas expenditure fell at an estimate of 250 dollars.

In contrast to this, food expenditure had a different pattern. This began on the first month being the highest item spent at around 500 dollars and then gradually declined by the end of April ending at about 350 dollars consumed.
