Nowadays, people communicate with each other differently because of technology. New innovations have significantly transformed relationships in several ways, including accessibility and speed of communication. I believe that even though there are benefits, technology has a negative impact on personal development because it creates shy and insecure people.
Technology has affected people’s relationships due to its availability and ease of interaction. Different apps and social media allow people to communicate with each other across distances, maintaining good relationships. Instant messaging or calling makes it easier for people to share information or talk. For instance, mobile phones make it easier for someone in a relationship and busy at work to interact with their partner. Without the phone, many couples would probably break up and feel unsatisfied with their dating life. However, telephones allow couples to build stronger and healthier relationships through easy and instant contact.
In my opinion, even if technology has changed people’s lives positively, it also has some drawbacks in their growth because people who overuse it become less communicative and insecure in real life. Individuals behave differently on social media, so they lose themselves and forget about who they are. Online communication is easier for meeting new people and even dating, but it causes problems with having conversations in reality. For example, people use online dating apps, particularly Tinder, and create fake profiles where they present themselves differently. Individuals who get used to these apps start having issues with self-development. Many people who return to face-to-face interactions become less confident and less communicative.
In conclusion, new innovations have transformed many people’s lives, giving them opportunities to reach out and communicate across distances instantly. However, overusing online services and social media has a negative influence on some individuals, making them shy and insecure about themselves.
