In contemporary society, people have a series of sources to get access to abundant updated information. However, there remains a controversial matter about whether readers should depend on whatever the reporters inform or not. From my perspective, everything has two opposite sides which is the same for a coin with two facets and it is true for this essay, furthermore, professional journalists have to meet specific requirements.
On the one hand, I sympathize with the idea that not every reporter is considered bad. Firstly, thanks to journalists, humans can expand their knowledge because the press helps to provide all kinds of information, ranging from current affairs to entertainment news. By way of illustration, it is generally believed that to gain knowledge, people often read books, and usually assume that all new things are only bound at educational centers. However, policy-related issues are notified in highly reliable news companies. Moreover, the press discloses social problems, which makes the government join hands to deal with them as soon as possible. It is true for the latest domestic violence in Ho Chi Minh City, which leads to the tragic death of an innocent girl. Thanks to journalists’ voices, that case was immediately solved and the horrible sinners were strictly punished. However, there still remain numerous drawbacks that newspapers bring about. To hook viewers and maximize profits, reporters are willing to over-report negative stories. This will mislead public views by posting gossip pieces of news that say detrimental things to individuals or organizations. Thus, there are plenty of potential debates occurring in communities, which significantly negatively influence the society order.
Moreover, it seems to me that there are three qualities that a successful journalist should have. To begin with, he must be brave enough to encounter differences with the government to get information. In detail, in World War II, lionhearted reporters had to get into life-threatening environments to catch each most honest fierce moment, so these ancient visual materials can be considered as means of helping new generations realistically comprehend their previous history. More importantly, a reporter needs to be patient. For instance, to dismantle illegal drug deals, these people may riskily follow the bad guys for a long time to collect important clues, therefore, the lawbreakers must pay for their offenses. Finally, being fair should be given top priority. It is evident how genuine the press is when the host company posts advantageous announcements for untruthful agencies after taking benefits from these places. Thus, there is an awful scenario that social balance may be disorder because every individual must stay in “uncertain” settlements where truths and gossip are extremely hard to identify.
