The pie chart gives information about the main causes of land degradation around the world, while the table shows the impact these have had in three different regions. Overall, although land degradation around the world is affected by three main causes, different regions are not equally affected by them. Notably, land degradation is mainly connected with human activities.
According to the pie chart, although there are other reasons that lead to land degradation, logging poses the greatest threat at 35%. However, as farming of crops and animals is responsible for 28% and 30% respectively, it is clear that agriculture causes more than half of all problems.
Looking at the table, region two experiences the greatest land problems, with 23% of its land degraded. Notably, it is affected by all three causes and has the highest figure of the three regions for both logging (9.8%) and growing crops (7.7%). Although region two is unaffected by crop farming, the vast majority of its land is degraded by animal farming at 11.3%. Interestingly, region one has the lowest proportion of degraded land and has the lowest percentage in all categories, however, growing crops is responsible for more than half of its land issues, with 3.3%.
