In 1980, Germany had the largest elderly people about 15%, followed by the UK at around 13%, and Canada with just 10%. By 2000, these figures increased, Germany about 20%, Canada and the UK rising to 15%.
It is forecast that the number of people aged 65 and over will increase in all three countries in 2030. Germany is expected to have the highest proportion at 25%, the Canada at 22% and the UK at 18%.
