Education has always been the key to success for several ages. It has been claimed that the rising number of criminal activities are reported mostly by illiterate masses; hence, offering educational programs to prisoners will assist in the reduction of unlawful activities. This essay will elucidate my whole-hearted agreement to this notion, and will state testament in subsequent paragraphs.
To commence with, providing learning opportunities to offenders will increase social welfare among the nation. A large proportion of culprits live below the poverty line, they have never been to an educational institute since birth. They commit wrongdoings because of being misguided. Therefore, building a school within the detention center premises will educate them so they can serve their community by following a positive approach that will benefit society by considering their wellbeing. For instance, criminals will learn social ethics and cultural values by assisting the people in need and performing public support worker duties, which will have a direct impact upon civilians. This will help lawbreakers to become better human beings. Thus, prison education programs help inmates develop social and ethical values, which helps them to gain a positive outlook on life and work in public programs to clear off their sins.
To further solidify my argument, creating an environment to learn new skills will help the culprits to secure employment. There are specialized training programs that they can enroll in to become experts in their chosen fields, while completing their sentence in the jail. Hence, these skillful training programs will help them to become self-reliant and overcome poverty. To exemplify, talking about a renowned actor Robert Downey Jr, who was sentenced for criminal charges, discovered his passion for acting while in prison, and currently he is one of the highest paid actors in the world. Hence, to reduce rampant criminal activities, authorities should pay attention to transitioning criminals into better skilled and trade opportunities.
In conclusion, unlawful acts are committed mostly by an uneducated populace. Hence, education is directly proportional to diminish these criminal activities. The learning institutes within the lockup will aid them to provide ethical and moral values, which will develop welfare work among individuals. Additionally, adapting advanced skills will guide them to be employed, which will assist them to earn income and become self-reliant by following the correct path to transform into a better person. Thus, these reforms will reduce the crime rate.
